Zamil forwards Zaryab's messages to Abu Bakar. Abu Bakar tells his mother he cannot go through with it: he is not asking about Zaryab's past, but he has a right to expect loyalty in the present, and he will not be anyone's second option. Khushbakht breaks down and pleads with him, and he gives in. It is her decision, he says, and he bows his head to it.

In Karachi, Hamna stands in Zamil's way as he tries to leave, and he turns on her for daring to say Zaryab's name. At Habib's house, the cleric is waiting and the clock is ticking towards 4:30. Faryal, the older sister who usually asks Zaryab for advice, tells her to try to move on. When the guard tells Zamil that Abu Bakar has arrived, Zamil is left raging on the phone.

Zaryab remembers a childhood game with Zamil, pretending to read their own nikah with a mehr of "infinity". When the real question comes, she asks for it to be repeated, then says "I accept". It is already past 4:30.

After the nikah, Abu Bakar quietly returns the diamond ring and watch Habib gave him: they are simple people, he says, and will keep Zaryab happy without such things. Then Khushbakht sees the jewellery on the bride. It is her own wedding set, made by her father's hands, which Kishwar kept safe for years hoping to give it to Abu Bakar's bride. Khushbakht calls the gold flawed, and leaves the room in tears.
